12 SUCCESS TIPS AT THE LAST AUTHORS’ FORUM

Till now, Israel Uzoka's lyrics are still on my lips: "Do you really know how beautiful you are? All over the world no one looks like you. You can put a smile on your face." That was ‘Beautiful’, one of the 6 songs that Israel fired us with, last Wednesday at the Authors’ Forum.

The other songs he performed included ‘You do make me shine’ which many refer to as ‘I have a very big God’ and ‘Igwe’. With his powerful stage presence, angelic vocals, inspirational words of wisdom in Pidgin English during interludes, it’s undebetable that Israel took the evening.

In addition to Israel’s electrifying performance, the ‘Battle of Minds’ where participants competed in constructing a full sentence without using letter ‘a’, Pablo’s rib-shattering humor, and poetry from FORTUNE UNLIMITED made the event a fun-full evening to remember.

The Celeb Interviews equally stole the show. Many people had possibly seen Edwim Musiime, the brain behind Crest Awards and Olive Gospel Music Awards, on billboards and TV, but this time he inspired us live. When he talked about his book on Uganda’s Dream, I felt my spirit being lifted to an unstoppable magnitude. And who was not metamorphosed by the words of David Muwanguzi, a young prolific author, who talked about the graves whose occupants did not utilize their full potential?

The peak was with the 12 success tips that Robert Ahimbisibwe the Select Garments tycoon gave us on business. One was that we don't need to first accumulate lots of dime to start; it’s starting that will help us accumulate the dime. He emphasized that success is not a one-moment achievement; we need a series of successes. He gave us a powerful Runyankole proverb: "Ameizi gita Ningamanya" (water kills those who think they understand it) to mean we should never relax even when we feel we are succeeding.

For the last 2 days, the facebook walls of many my friends have been covered with praises for the event. This is what I found from Ruth Kyomugisha’s wall: “Destiny changer! The aroma in the auditorium was just smellable (Does that word exist?) Kasita you understand what I mean. Yesterday’s Authors’ Forum was one of its kind. Ahimbisibwe made a statement as he got to the stage: ‘I live a life of abundance’. Indeed from the word go, I could also feel abundance in me.”

What more to add? To get the entire package of what transpired in video form, contact us on 0414691595 / 0704666851 for a DVD. Each goes for 15k only. Otherwise, begin to warm up for the next episode which will happen on 3rd October. We are arranging to bring a team of inspirational figures that will make it 10 times more inspiring than that of last week. Lwaki nedda? Aliwa awakana?

Stay blessed and inspired!

SUCCESS TIP OF THE YEAR!!!

Every year I always select a special inspirational message among all ideas that have ever come to my mind and share that message with you. Now for this year, my special message is about the power of feedback. It might change your life completely.

For over 3 years now, I have always sent a short inspirational message to Authors’ Forum members and to all my friends, once a week. To ensure my message goes only to those who value it, I always delete from the mailing list anyone who spends 4 months without responding. But it shocks me when such people come complaining and blaming me for removing them. Question is: “Am I an angel to know that you read and liked my message if you don’t let me know?”

If you want to succeed in your career, work, business and life generally, learn to give feedback. Your customer who keeps telling you which products were or were not good is giving you feedback; don’t get mad at him/her. It could be your wife who keeps complimenting you when you are smart and rebuking you when you are shabby; she’s helping you to dress like the great man you are.

Ever sent a proposal to someone who kept you waiting for weeks and months without saying “Yes” or “No”? There are people you write an email to but they respond by sending you forwards, most of which are irrelevant to your needs. They don’t seem to know of the ‘Compose’ function! People want to know you care enough to write to them other than sending chain messages that have been forwarded thousands of times.
What of people you call and he says he is in the middle of something and promises to call you back in 30 minutes and you wait forever? Personally I always try my best to call back, except for perennial beepers!

Then there’s where you make a promise and fail. It’s good to say the truth instead of making the other person wait forever. If it’s a job you promised and you find you don’t have it, communicate to the person. If you had an appointment at 10am and you know you are going to be late, don’t call 1 minute to the time to say you will delay for an hour when the other person is already waiting and don’t blame it on traffic jam, if it’s not the cause.

Feedback is so crucial even in the territory of love. Marriages have been ruined just because one spouse doesn’t respond to calls and missed calls or one keeps telling the other “I love you” and the other just responds “Okay”! Yiiiiiiiiiii! And for the singles, imagine proposing marriage to a lady and you wait for her feedback for a day, a week, a month, five months! You find yourself dying in installments, ha ha ha!

Now, if I don’t get your feedback on this message, will I be wrong to assume you didn’t appreciate it?

EASTER IS A TIME TO RISE AND SHINE

Whenever Easter is mentioned, two words come to my mind – Death and Resurrection. Today being Easter, I find no better area of inspiration than having us reflect on the lessons that we can draw from these two realities.

The first thought looming my mind is that there can be no resurrection (Easter) without death (Good Friday) first. No sweat, no gain. I compare this to what happens to a seed. It gets buried into the soil, dies, but then ‘resurrects’ in a more productive form as a seedling.

After Jesus died, in the eyes of men he was buried, yet in actual sense he was planted in the grave. His ‘burial’ was part of the process leading to the revelation of his glorious self as he shot out of the tomb, leaving the guards paralyzed.

Every day we find ourselves being ‘killed’ and buried by ugly situations. We can choose not to be buried to rot in the ground, but rather to be planted and sprout again. Don’t accept to be buried by debts, frustration over a failed relationship, stress from a cruel boss, the pangs of unemployment or any other undesirable situation enchaining you.

Easter should be a time to rise out of the valley of fear, despair, guilt, shame, and failure, and climb to the plateau of hope. This should be a time to reaffirm your New (or rather Old) Year’s Resolutions. Let every dead dream rise again.

Take action and redeem your image from ridicule after promising your friends that you were going to wed, register your business, quit smoking or start saving to buy land, because if you don’t fulfill your promise they will laugh at you.

Note that the risen Jesus was different; he could even go through walls. So the new you should maximize your potential. Let your mind expand the realm of possibilities. Stir, unlock and unleash that potential. Not even the sky has the power to limit you.

TODAY’S SUCCESS QUOTE:

“The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives” (Albert Einstein).

INSPIRATIONAL TIP FOR YOU

At the Authors’ Forum, we shall be hearing from Robert Bake Tumuhaise as he shares powerful insights to help us unlock our potential. He has created the formula ABCDEFGHIJ to help his audience remember what kills human potential. Today, his inspirational tip for you is on ‘D’, which stands for Distractions.

There are so many good things of this world that divert us from the right path. For instance there are many pleasures that cause us to overspend every time we earn. Obsession with shopping can be a big distraction. Drinking may start as a small leisure activity until it becomes an addiction to hold you hostage for real.

Sometimes distracters can be our friends. You start a business and they tell you there are more profitable businesses and you begin suspecting you made a mistake. Note that some people who have never even started a business will always tell you that your current business idea will not work and give you advice they’ve never applied!

Distractions can from your family. If your relatives have been causing you to over compromise your principles, values and set goals, be careful. You could have a husband who begins to frustrate you the moment you start thinking out of the box, so that you do not become too successful for him to control. You could be having a wife who influences you to spend like you are an ATM.

What are those distractions that often make you lose focus on your dream? You start building a house and something else comes in and you leave it half-way. You save money to buy land, but another attractive thing pastes itself in and you end up diverting the money. You purpose to resign and start your own business and your boss increases your salary or gives you a promotion.

Well, that was just ‘D’. You also need to discover the meaning of the other letters as well as Bake’s other formula of the practical steps you can take to instantly unlock your hidden potential. So don’t dare miss Wednesday’s Authors’ Forum.
