INSPIRING LESSONS AT THE 3RD JUNE AUTHORS’ FORUM

“I am 57 years old and I am about to get my retirement package. All along I was wondering how I will ensure I grow this money and not lose it in a year and die miserably. I have never done business, but now I know, all I have to do is look for great business partners. Jane did it. As she shared her story, I realized that identifying Abrey transformed not only her life but also Abrey’s. Abrey had the technical skills to weld, but possibly wasn’t able to do good marketing. On the other hand, Jane was outgoing and able to market any product. Today their combination is doing very well like we all witnessed. Thanks to World of Inspiration for organizing such an insightful Authors’ Forum. I need to buy a copy of that DVD plus the one on Preparing for Enjoyable Retirement” (TUSIIME ELEADOR).

“The 3rd June Authors’ Forum was breath-taking! I learnt from the panelists that as an entrepreneur, I have to always look at how to cut the costs, increase profits, and do so without compromising the quality of my product. Not only that. I also got to understand the different types of partnerships such as co-ownership, equity funding, buying franchises, swapping and dealership, among others as Bake ably explained them in detail. As if all the above were not enough, there comes another lesson on documentation of partnership arrangements! I love this Authors’ Forum family, thanks to WORLD OF INSPIRATION” (MONICA NAHABWE, Office of the Prime Minister).

“I learnt from Bake’s business journey that it is not possible for anyone to succeed in business without business partners of sorts. One may not necessarily bring on board partners who co-own the business, but somehow as the vision bearer you have to bring on board other people who complement you. I learnt that partnerships are about complementally. For instance, Bake shared why he brought on board his wife and why he partnered with individuals and organizations to market his products at a commission. He also said that even in choosing staff to employ he looks for those with complementally skills and talents because he looks at them as partners. I don’t want to miss the Authors’ Forum again. This month I want to subscribe for annual membership” (ANNET AKELLO).

“I had always heard about the Authors’ Forum from my friends in Uganda and my curiosity had always grown. But this time I happened to be in the country and, my God, how could some Ugandans miss such an inspirational event? I was glad you welcomed me and made me even stand up in the audience and receive a round of applause. That showed me that you want not only Ugandans to succeed, but every African. Specifically, I my major lesson was on the 4 Ps that were shared – Passion, Perseverance, Patience and Partnerships. Bake specifically called them Strategic Partnerships. Jane’s passion was like electricity in the room. I am going to talk to my friends and colleagues in Kenya to see how WORLD OF INSPIRATION can expand to us. I am glad there were other two Kenyans, Raphael and another one whose name I have forgotten. Long live Authors’ Forum” (KAMAU P, Busia).

“I learnt that when a partnership doesn’t work, there’s always a point at which to let go and move on. One should not insist on keeping people who are liabilities instead of assets. Of course, I also loved the humour: Jane Werikhe nearly broke my ribs when she said that some Ugandans complain so much like the only book they’ve read is the book of Lamentations! The Authors' Forum is the place to be” (MARIA NATUKUNDA, NTV).

“The major lesson I picked is that when doing business, family and friends should be treated the same way any other clients are treated. I loved it when Jane shared her experience of charging her sister when doing work for her. Indeed, friends and family members should promote us, not bring us down. From today on I won’t be treating close people with kid gloves” (SPECY KAKIIZA, Uganda Health Marketing Group).

Finally, mark 1st July on you calendar because that’s a date to make a date with – that’s when we shall have our next episode of the Authors’ Forum. The theme is HOW TO MARKET YOURSELF. In this 21st century NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE, if you do not know HOW TO MARKET YOURSELF, you will always find yourself at the bottom of things, missing opportunities, left and right. So use the contacts above to secure your ticket. This week we are giving tickets at half price (meaning UGX 20,000 instead of 40,000). As usual the venue is THE HUB (At Oasis Mall 2nd Floor) and the time is 6-9pm.

NB: Authors’ Forum subscribed members attend freely; all you need to do is pay UGX 250,000 and that makes you a member for 12 months. During that period we keep giving you a free inspirational DVD every month. For the months you fail to attend the Forum, you can give your membership card to a friend of a family member to attend on your behalf. We would wish in a special way to thank Parliament of Uganda which subscribed for 10 members to the Authors’ Forum and is in the process of subscribing for 6 more. We are also grateful that we have 8 professors of Makerere University who are subscribed members. To us, this is a sign that the Authors’ Forum is part of an unstoppable inspirational revolution that has taken over Uganda.

Stay blessed and inspired!
